Job Title: Game Designer (Full-Time or Part-Time)
Location: Remote (Berlin is a plus)

Treibrad Games, a young and innovative game studio, is seeking a passionate Game Designer to join our team. We are working on our first title, a single-player empire-building game with optional math-based mechanics that accelerate player progress. The goal is to connect positive gameplay experiences with the use of math and science, helping kids see the practical relevance of these subjects. Effectively, we want to weave math and science as invisibly as possible into a game like Anno.

Responsibilities:

·       Design game mechanics that incentivize the use of math, while keeping its use optional. At first through paper-prototyping with the methods of your choosing.
·       Create implementable documentation for coding team
·       Work with UI Designers and Artists to illustrate game mechanics prior to development
·       Co-organize and supervise playtests of proposed game mechanics
·       Gather and analyze feedback of playtests
·       Develop engaging gameplay elements, focusing on sandbox, empire-building, base-building, and RTS genres.

Qualifications:

·       Passion for sandbox games, empire builders, base-builders, and RTS.
·       Understanding of the importance of connecting math and science to gameplay, even if you’re not a math expert.
·       Coding skills are a plus but not required.
·       We don’t judge experience by years – we are more interested in your motivation
