Senior 3D Artist (m/f/d) – Hybrid in Munich

Type: Full-time
Location: Hybrid (Munich)

Who We Are

We’re Thera Bytes, an indie game dev studio based in Munich. You might know us from Zombie Cure Lab, Global Farmer, or our work on several serious games over the last 10 years.

With a small, dedicated team of 15 people, we’re working on a mix of exciting projects—from first-person simulators to isometric strategy—and we’re looking for a Senior 3D Artist who’s ready to roll up their sleeves and help us build worlds, guide pipelines, and bring ideas to life.

The Role

This isn’t just about crafting beautiful assets (though yes, that’s a big part of it). We’re looking for someone who can own the 3D art process, keep quality high and pipelines flowing, and act as the go-to person between the art team and management.

You’ll work closely with our Creative Director and have direct access to the leadership team, so your input won’t just be heard—it’ll shape how we do things across multiple projects.

What You’ll Be Doing

Model, texture, and optimize characters, props, and environments—from high-poly to game-ready
Integrate assets into Unreal Engine and work with the dev/design teams to make sure everything fits and flows
Help define and maintain the visual direction across projects
Streamline workflows, spot production bottlenecks, and improve how the art team operates
Be the bridge between artists and the management team—translating creative goals into solid production steps

What We’re Looking For

5+ years of professional 3D art experience in game development
At least one shipped game in a similar role
A portfolio that shows your range—characters, environments, props (no portfolio = no review)
Comfortable in tools like Blender, Maya, 3ds Max, ZBrush, Substance Painter
Strong sense of form, light, anatomy, and world-building
Solid Unreal Engine experience (you know your way around materials, asset setup, etc.)
Excellent communicator—you’re great at giving feedback, syncing with other disciplines, and keeping everyone aligned
Self-organized and proactive, with a willingness to learn new tech or methods

Bonus XP

Experience in VFX and animation
Familiarity with hair grooming, scripting, or technical art
A strong feel for market trends and what players visually connect with
Why This Role?

You’ll have a voice in how we build art and how we build games
You’ll work across varied projects with a collaborative, tight-knit team
You’ll get real responsibility—not just making assets, but helping shape how we create them
Think you’ve got the eye, the skills, and the leadership mindset?
Send us your portfolio and let’s talk. We’re excited to meet someone who’s as passionate about great game art as we are.
